• Gels are contained in a sandwich of a back-plate and a notched plate
• Gel apparatus will take two gels. (If only one gel, use spare back-plate to seal the other position)
• The backplates must be put in the apparatus so that they are outmost; the notched plates must be inmost so that they contact the buffer
• Fill up the assembled apparatus to the "Max'" mark.
• The lid only goes on one way so that its sockets and the electrode pins match
• Run the voltage at 20mA per gel. As the gel runs, increase voltage to maintain current. If in a hurry, you can run at limiting 150V. Demonstrators 2001 say that ran at 40mA each gel. Needed to do this to get out by 6pm. No adverse effects on the gels or apparatus were reported.
• There any many different sorts of power packs. The worst is the newest ( GIBRL 2000mA). The mA must be set to 60 before it will produce a load.
• Dismantle carefully.Insert a spatula along an edge ( not notched!) and rotate it slowly until the seal between the plates breaks. Wet fingers of gloved hand before removing the gel.
